Astrology - Planets - Jupiter Revealed

our protector

There is little wonder that Jupiter is seen as such a positive force and one associated with good luck and fortune. Without this massive planet in our solar system life on Earth might not exist.

It huge size and mass creates sufficient gravitational pull to deflect asteroids and comets. It doing so it acts as shield and protector to Earth limiting the number of dangerous impacts.

Earth is hit by a massive asteroid every hundred million years or so - if Jupiter was missing from the solar system Earth would get hit by a deadly blow every 10,000 years.

It is not only Jupiter's huge size that is important but also its location far from the Sun. Because it orbits at such a great distance from the Sun there is room in the inner part of the solar system to accommodate smaller planets.

A complex mass of colourful clouds and powerful wild winds Jupiter has a hot interior that radiates twice as much energy as it receives from the Sun. It is almost entirely of hydrogen and helium. Under intense pressure the hydrogen gas becomes metallic and can conduct electricity. As a result Jupiter's magnetic field is over 20,000 times stronger than Earth's.

Jupiter is the supreme god of the Roman pantheon. Known as "shining father". A god of sky, light, thunder and lightning. The protector of the Roman state and ruler over the universe.
